Parental Motivators and Level of Satisfaction: a Preferential Basis of Tertiary Education

Ritta Mae S. Arellano

This study was conducted to identify the motivation and satisfaction levels of the College of Business and Accountancy first year students` parents in sending them to Liceo de Cagayan University. The descriptive research design was used. Two researcher-made questionnaires were utilized as the primary sources of obtaining the data: the motivation level questionnaire and satisfaction level questionnaire. As found out, the no-down-payment scheme of Liceo de Cagayan University, the availability of the course that the students wanted to pursue in college and the reputation of the school were the greatest motivational factors why parents preferred the university to other tertiary institutions in the region. The satisfaction levels of the parents in relation to the motivational factors were also high (e.g. availability of the course and the no down payment scheme).  However, the parents’ motivation and satisfaction levels on the issue of the school’s tuition fees got the lowest mean. Finally, there was a significant relationship (r =.61, P value =.00) between the motivational factors and the level of satisfaction of parents in sending their son/daughter to Liceo de Cagayan University.
