The Dynamics of Homework: Impact to Student and Family

The study was conducted to determine the influence of homework to students and their parents. It utilized the descriptive survey design and was given to the Grades 7 to 10 students and parents of Carmen National High School and Iponan National High School. The study employed the frequency counts and percentage, the mean percentage, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis to organize the data collected for this study. Results revealed that students generally have a positive attitude towards homework and that parents perceive homework as a helpful activity in improving their child’s performance in school. Moreover, students’ perceptions towards homework as a medium towards better learning, and better grades have high significant relations to homework’s impact on their families. The relationship of students’ attitude towards homework and its impact on their families are affected by the school, mothers’ educational attainment and fathers’ occupation. In conclusion, the researchers concluded that there is a significant relationship between the students’ attitude towards homework and how their parents perceive it.
