Cooperative Play and Fantasy Play: Relationship on Social, Emotional, Cognitive and Physical Skills

Play is a significant activity in kindergarten where children engage in many important tasks that would develop their whole being. This study determined the relationship of cooperative play and fantasy play on social, emotional, cognitive and physical skills of the kindergarten pupils of Liceo de Cagayan University.  Specifically, this included following: objectives to describe the preschoolers’ manifestation of cooperative play and fantasy play, and to determine the preschoolers’ perform are in the following skills: social, emotional, cognitive and physical skills. Descriptive correlation design was applied in the study for the measurement and analysis of variables to explain the relationship of cooperative play and fantasy play on preschooler’s four areas of development.  Rubrics for cooperative play and fantasy play and a modified developmental checklist based on the Department of Education’s report card were used.  Percentage and frequency distribution and Pearson-r values were used to determine the signs of manifestation skills development among the preschoolers as they engaged in cooperative play and fantasy play.  The result shows that cooperative play and fantasy play have a significant relationship on the preschoolers’ social, emotional, cognitive and physical skills.
