Compliance of Select College of Arts and Sciences Academic Programs of the Policies, Standards, and Guidelines for Center of Development: A Baseline Study
The 21st century demand for quality education forced schools to upgrade their academic programs and for the Commission on Higher Educations to give Center of Development Award to qualified school. The study sought to find out the a) Assessments of the Dean, the Chairpersons, and the Faculty members of the compliance of the five academic programs of Liceo de Cagayan University, College of Arts and Sciences, namely; Biology, Communications, English Literature, Political Science, and Psychology of the requirements set by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), b) The level of compliance of the five academic programs, c) The strong and weak areas of the programs, and whether there is significant difference in the assessments of the respondents. It used as framework the CHED Memorandum Orders (CMO) for Center of Development. It utilized the quantitative research methodology, a researcher-made-self-survey instrument, and open ended interview guide to collect and analyzed the data. The study found out that the five academic programs, a) Varied in the level of compliance from, being slightly compliant to very compliant, b) Are strong in Institutional Qualification and weak in Research and Publication, and c) There is no significant difference on how the respondents assessed the four (4) academic programs, except for English Literature.
