Knowledge, Practice and Attitude on Ecological Solid Waste Management (R.A. 9003)

The study was anchored on Republic Act 9003 otherwise known as the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000 which aimed to offer an inclusive ecological solid waste management program by creating essential institutional mechanisms, appropriating funds, incentives, providing penalties and asserting certain prohibited acts. The study determined level of knowledge, practices and attitude of the students of Liceo de Cagayan University of solid waste management and whether there are relationships between their knowledge, practice and attitude. The study used the descriptive research design employing a researcher-made survey questionnaire for gathering the data. The findings reveal that majority of the respondents were knowledgeable to highly knowledgeable of R.A 9003, they find ecological solid waste practices acceptable, and they sometimes practiced ecological solid waste practices. The study also discovered that there is no significant relationship between knowledge and attitude, knowledge and practice, and attitude and practice of ecological solid waste management. Finally, it was found out that regarding the respondent’s demographic profile, only college came out as a variable that had an effect on knowledge, practice and attitude on ecological solid waste management.
