Awareness of the Local Government Officials on Their Roles in the Implementation of Reproductive Health Law

The study focused on the roles of the local government officials, specifically the barangay chairperson and kagawads, in the implementation of the Republic Act 10354 or the Reproductive Health Law and the assumption that for the officials to implement effectively the law they must be highly aware of the mandate of the law. Using the descriptive research design, the study determined the profile of the respondents, the level of awareness of the local government officials of their roles in the implementation of the law, the significant difference in the level of awareness of the local government officials when they are grouped according to their demographic profile. The study discovered that most of the respondents were within the age bracket of 52-61 years old, males, college graduates, and have middle class status. Moreover, the respondents have only an average level of awareness of their roles in the implementation of the Reproductive Health Law. Results show that there is a significant difference on the level of awareness of the respondents when grouped according to economic status and position in the Barangay. On the other hand, there is no significant difference on the level of awareness of the respondents in terms of their age, gender, educational attainment, and the type of the barangay.
