Type of Music and its Effect on Blood Pressure of Middle Adults and Middle Adolescents

The study, which was conducted at the Psychology Laboratory in the Main Campus of Liceo de Cagayan University, Philippines delved into the effects of type of music on the blood pressure levels of 5 male and 5 female middle adolescents and 5 male & 5 female middle adults of the said university. The researchers used the experimental method. The within-subject design was used to gather the data needed. The t-test was applied to determine the effects of type of music and gender on the blood pressure of the subject participants.The results revealed that the blood pressure level of middle adolescents before the pre-test was found to be normal but result of classical music showed that the BP reading became low. The blood pressure level of middle adolescents during the pre-test was found normal but post-test reading of blood pressure after metallic music was presented shot-up. There is a significant difference in the level of blood pressure of middle adolescents after listening to classical and metallic music. There is a significant difference in the level of blood pressure of male and female adolescents before listening to classical music. There is a significant difference in the blood pressure levels of middle adolescents before and after listening to metallic music. In conclusion, middle adolescents’ blood pressure is affected by the exposure to music in which their blood pressure increased when expound to metallic music and went down when exposed to chemical music.
