Frederick T. Salloman

This study attempted to discover the Timberland Taxi Drivers’ level of risk taking tendencies and accident proneness. The descriptive research design was used. The data were gathered using two adopted questionnaires. The gathered data were statistically treated using the weighted mean and Pearson r correlation. Twelve (12) Timberland taxi drivers served as the respondents of this research. The findings are summarized as follows: The taxi drivers of this study are average when it comes to their risk taking tendencies. The reward orientation of the respondents and the locus of control of the respondents are both low. Moreover, things are average when it comes to their accident proneness. However, their level of attentiveness is low. The result further reveals that there is a significant relationship between the level of risk taking and accident proneness of the Timberland taxi drivers. Timberland taxi drivers are moderately prone to accident. However, it is important to conduct further study on the person’s behavior leading to accidents that may help the drivers understand what emotions or behavior would trigger the risk taking tendencies that leads to accident.
