The Effect of Lantana camara L. (Kantutay) Leaves Crude Extract on the Defecation Frequency of Male White Mice

The main objective of this study was to determine the effect of L. camara (Kantutay) leaves crude extract on the defecation frequency of male white mice. The fresh leaves of Kantutay were collected at Dalapag Compound, San Martin, Villanueva Misamis Oriental. The extraction process was conducted at the Pharmaceutical Laboratory of Liceo De Cagayan University. The administration of the different concentrations of the extract was conducted at Cagayan Animal Clinic, Door 3, Vicky Tan Building, Kauswagan, Cagayan de Oro City. The administration of the Kantutay extract was done through intraperitoneal injection, with the assistance of a veterinarian. The study revealed that Kantutay leaf crude extract was effective in reducing the frequency of defecation of male white mice. However, there is no significant difference in the defecation frequency of male white mice applied with different concentrations of the crude extract.
