Competitive Strategies of Selected Telecommunication Companies: A Case Study

This research was constructively designed to determine the competitive analysis of all the telecommunication company in Cagayan de Oro City. In the context, the study sought to know what they think are the competitive position, advantages and the disadvantages of telecommunication industry through this guide questions; 1) Competitive Rivalry, 2) Threat of New Entry, 3) Threat of Substitution, 4) Supplier Power, and  5) Buyer Power. Also, this study intends to present the industry profile in term of type of organization, number of years in operation, number of employees, starting capital, number of branches in Cagayan de Oro, type of ownership.  The quantitative method of investigatory was use in this study. This study was conducted on the following industry; Globe Telecom, Smart Communications, Sun Cellular, PLDT-Philcom, Bayantel, and Misamis Oriental Telecommunication (MISORTEL) in Cagayan de Oro City, where competitive analysis are exhibited. Data were collected through questionnaire and interview. The business uses competitive analysis to determine the strategies they needed to compete with their competitors and stay longer in the market. The researchers personally went to the area in order to personally meet and interview the manager.
