The Impact of Covid-19 to Tourism and Hospitality Students Academic Learning

This research focuses on investigating the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the academic learning of Tourism and Hospitality Management students of Liceo de Cagayan University in Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines. It aims to determine and identify the factors affecting students’ academic learning during this pandemic. The research instrument utilized in this study is a questionnaire; the data collected are the respondents’ demographics and questions eliciting further information about the factors that may affect the academic learning of Tourism and Hospitality Management students. The results indicated that significant effects occurred following a survey conducted among Tourism and Hospitality Management students ascertaining the effect of COVID-19 on their academic learning. Additionally, the findings of this study demonstrated that readiness for online and self-learning, online learning settings, and teaching methods could all contribute to students’ academic learning. The study’s findings imply that students have no problem adapting to the new learning setup; however, some circumstances, restraints, and latency hinders from gratifying their learnings. The interaction between the students and teachers seemed to be complicated, which led to a communication gap. Thus, the study also brings forth the positive side of the online learning system, which was further investigated in this study.
