Human Resource Practices of A Government Agency

The study determined the existing human resource practices of a select government agency. Specifically in terms of recruitment and selection, training and development, compensation and benefits, rewards and promotion and employee engagement. The study used survey questionnaire, conducted a personal interview. The data were analyzed using frequency count and percentage.  Based on the results, majority of the respondents were 51 years old and above and female. Majority were married and a degree holder. All of them were regular in their employment status, and the majority have six years and above length of service in the organization. Also, a majority of the respondent’s salary grade ranges from Php15, 000 to 40,000. Regarding recruitment and selection, the majority of the respondents agreed that the company clearly defines the position objectives, requirements and candidate specification. On training and development, results revealed that all of their respondents were willing to accept and use new changes for the betterment of the company’s performance. Regarding compensation and benefit, results show that majority of the respondents find their salary and wages appealing to keep them in the organization. On reward and promotion, the majority responded that the management gives a formal recognition for the employee’s effort. However, in this practice, an issue occurs because there were also employees who have not received an award. Regarding employee engagement, the majority of the respondents answered that they are happy with their work.
