Information Seeking Behavior of the Faculty Members

The purpose of the study was to determine the information seeking behavior of the faculty of the College of Arts and Sciences in Liceo de Cagayan University. The study focused on the: 1) the purposes of the respondents when they visit the library, 2) the information seeking behavior of the respondents, 3) the extent of the respondents demonstrate their information seeking behavior, and 4) the significant relationship between the faculty members information seeking purposes and their information seeking behavior. In answering the problems the study used the descriptive research design employing a researcher-made survey questionnaire for gathering the data, which were analyzed and interpreted using ranking and weighted mean. Findings reveal that the main purpose of the respondents in visiting the library is for research. The respondent’s information seeking behavior is more on ending. The respondents practiced highly the information seeking behavior of verifying and the lowest were chaining and browsing. The respondents’ information seeking purposes influences their information seeking behavior.
