Health Promoting Lifestyle Profile among Young Professionals

This study focused on the health promoting lifestyle profile of young Professional in Cagayan de Oro City. The respondents of this study were seventy three young professionals aging from 20-39 years old who are working in the various establishments in Cagayan de Oro City. The study determined the demographic profile of the respondents and their health-promoting lifestyle and the bearing of these dimensions in the demographic characteristics of the respondents. The study utilized the descriptive design. A standardized questionnaire formulated by Walker et al was the main tool in gathering data from the respondents who were purposely chosen. Generally, specific age, gender, civil status, educational level, ethnic group, place of residence, work place, kind of work, length of working years, income and heredo-familial diseases of a certain individual,  are determinants in adhering to the health-promoting lifestyle. Although the behaviors are done often, they are still below the standard that the behaviors should be done routinely. This necessitates that more efforts have to be done to achieve the standards of the dimensions of the health-promoting lifestyle among these groups of young professionals. Likewise, there is need to sustain the programs of the Department of Health and the health workers to intensify its campaign on healthy lifestyle.
