Problems in the Implementation of Madrasah Education in the Public School System: Basis for Intervention

This study sought to determine the implementation of Madrasah education in eight public schools in the division of Cagayan de Oro City. The main tool in gathering the data was the questionnaire formulated by the researchers with the help of the research instructor and adviser. The first part of the questionnaire determined how the Madrasah education was implemented in the public schools. The second part tried to ascertain the problems encountered in the implementation of the curriculum. The study have identified that the school administrators conducted information dissemination to parents of Muslim children. Furthermore, this study was also able to identify that the teachers of Arabic language and Islamic values are not college graduates but they are proficient in Arabic language. Trainings and seminars were conducted by DepEd such as teaching methodologies`, English and Arabic languages, to enhance the capabilities of the teachers in teaching the subject. Finally, qualified teachers to teach the Arabic language and Islamic values, learning/instructional materials and class scheduling are some of the identified problems encountered by the administrators.
