Perceived Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Competencies of Teachers

The research on “Perceived Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Competencies of Teachers” was pursued with the following objectives: (1). What is the profile of the respondents in terms of age, gender, civil status, educational qualification, grade level taught, and teaching experience, (2)? What is the level of competencies of teachers in terms of technology operations, social ethical, pedagogical and professional, and (3)? Is there a significance difference of the perceived ICT competencies when grouped by the teachers’ profile. Descriptive research design was utilized in this study. It was conducted in South City Central School where in the teachers are the respondents. A total of 30 respondents using the quota sampling technique in the selection of the respondents. The majority of the respondents are in the middle adulthood, female, married, bachelor’s degree with MA units, and 5-10 years of teaching experience. In technology operation, social and ethical, pedagogical, and professional were verbally described as highly competent. In this study, there was a significant difference in the profile of the respondents under the perceived competencies as shown from the data, such as age, gender, civil status, educational qualification and teaching experience. In conclusion, by the findings, it might be concluded that the teachers are competent in terms of ICT competencies, but there is still room for improvement specifically on how to integrate ICT in teaching-learning process to be more productive and enhance students’ learning.
