Benefits of Internship of the Liberal Arts Program: An Assessment

The study aims to find out the benefits of internship of the Liberal Arts program at Liceo de Cagayan University. It is the aim of this work to show the: (1) profile of the respondents in terms of age, gender and their academic program, (2) the characteristic of the respondent’s internship in terms of their area of internship training, prescribed hours, number of hours dedicated to internship, and preparation and training, (3) the benefits of internship in their personal engagement, interpersonal engagement, academic engagement, employment preparation, the significant difference in the assessment of internship of the respondents on internship when grouped according to demographic profile, and the relationship between the benefits of internship and the characteristic of internship. The findings of this study revealed that there are more female than male respondents and most are age 19 years old and followed by 20 years old. The test of difference in the assessment of the internship of the respondents when grouped according to demographic profile showed a significant difference in the academic curriculum vs. personal engagement and academic curriculum vs. interpersonal engagement. In determining the relationship of the respondents’ assessment between the benefits of an internship and the characteristics of an internship, only the respondents’ assessment between the number of hours dedicated to internship and the benefits of internship showed a significant relationship.
