Josel S. Alojacin, Rick Ivan K. Sajulga, Maria Cesca S. Villamero, Aden Marielle Vilchez

In this study, the leaf concentrate of Eichhornia crassipes (Water Hyacinth) was utilized as a part of the formulation of the topical solution which exhibits antibacterial activity on Staphylococcus aureus. The study meant to assess the antibacterial action of Eichhornia crassipes (Water Hyacinth) formulated topical solution against Staphylococcus aureus in terms of the zone of inhibition and compared with the control groups, T0 Untreated Control, T1 Treated Control (Antibacterial Topical Solution), T2 Positive Control (Clindamycin Topical Solution) utilizing filter paper disc diffusion technique. The study found that the concentration of Eichhornia crassipes (Water Hyacinth) active component in the formulation is adequate to repress the growth of the test microorganism.
