The main objective of the study was to determine the effect of extract obtained from the Euphorbia hirta Linne.,commonly known as tawa-tawa plant on blood platelets of male adult guinea pig. The extraction of tawa-tawa plant samples was performed at Pharmacy laboratory of Liceo de Cagayan University. The experimental male adult guinea pigs were provided a shelter at Arellano’s residence. Necessary precautions were taken to ensure that the experimental guinea pigs were free from any other diseases to attain the liable result. Throughout the experimentation, it was ensured that the guinea pigs were in a healthy state. Data were taken and determined the difference if there was an increase in the blood platelets of guinea pigs. The study shows that there is no significant difference on the blood platelet level of the guinea pigs before and after 7-days treatmnet with the aqueous extract. Even though the Tawa-tawa extract has phenolic compounds, which is responsible for increasing the blood platelets.
