This content analysis research intended to describe cases of violence against women in Cagayan de Oro City utilizing the secondary data compiled at the Dept. of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). It also derived experiences from the victims of cases of violence against women who were chosen by judgmental sampling from the records kept by the DSWD with the social worker in charge. The following were the findings of the study: 1) most of the violence against women in Cagayan de Oro City were of sexual type; 2) survivors of violence against women were mostly single and 20 years old or younger, still students and with educational attainment at the elementary level; 3) most of the perpetrators were related to them either by consanguinity or affinity; 4) and majority of the survivors had filed cases against their perpetrators. One can conclude from the result that the women in this study who are often victimized sexually by men whom they know are young, single, and less educated. It is good to note, however, that these women have fought for their rights and stood up for themselves through legal actions.
