Health Care Needs among the Church Youth Members of a Parish in Cagayan De Oro City

The focus of universities and colleges the world over is holism- developing the total student. This study utilized the descriptive, qualitative research design and determined the profile of the youth parishioners of Christ Youth in Action. Gaps, challenges, and interventions were also presented and described. Convenience sampling was adopted. Twenty members were selected for this study. Males and females were equally represented. Fifteen were 20 years old, followed by 19 years old, 18 years old. The respondents’ family income ranged from 10,000-20,000 a month. Majority were from Cagayan de Oro City, Iligan City, and Camiguin. Most f the respondents were members of CYA for three years. Biological needs refer to food, clean air, and normal functioning of the body. Physical needs consisted of having a healthy body, relief from stress, sound mind, and being physically fit. Emotional needs, refer to security, attention, sense of autonomy and control, being emotionally connected to others, friendship, intimacy, sense of achievement , and having meaning and purpose in life. While social needs, refer to responsibility and concern, receiving support, and belongingness. Spiritual guidance and faith were spiritual needs mentioned. Although it is a religious organization the biological, physical, emotional, and social were met provided and met through sports fest, fellowships, summer camps, leadership trainings, prayer meetings, Mindanao Conference, and National Youth Festival. Identified gaps and challenges of the organization include lack and faithful members, wavering faith, and lack of funding. To narrow this gap, home visits, strengthened system, and partnership with local government, non-government organizations, and others were suggested.
