This study sought to determine the occurrence of Salmonella in four (4) locally produced peanut butter selected at random in Cagayan de Oro City. The researchers obtained four (4) locally produced peanut butter samples by random selection. Samples A and B were from Carmen market while samples C and D were from Cogon market. The set of samples was sent to F.A.S.T Laboratories located at C.M. Recto Avenue, Cagayan de Oro City to be tested in replicates for the presence of Salmonella. The analysis revealed that the peanut butter samples selected are free from Salmonella. The processing of locally produced peanut butter samples in the indicated locations may be deemed safe for human consumption in terms of Salmonella food poisoning, but only in areas where they were sold. All other areas are yet to be tested for the safety of their food products.
