Job Satisfaction of Certified Public Accountants in Bukidnon

Studying job satisfaction among CPAs may lead to a better understanding of why CPAs stay in the organization. This paper investigates the job satisfaction of accountants in Bukidnon. The job satisfaction indicators are remuneration, work-life conflict, training and development, leadership and career progression. This study adopted the Herzberg’s two-factor theory which consists of intrinsic and extrinsic factors of satisfaction. Data for this study were collected using self-administered questionnaires by Yee et al. (2013). The questionnaires were physically distributed to 100 accountants in academe, government and private accounting institutions in Bukidnon. Weighted mean, ANOVA, T-test and Regression were applied to examine the conceptual framework and the relationship between the indicators and job satisfaction. The findings showed that the accountants in Bukidnon are committed to stay in their profession and the demographic profile has no significant bearing on the level of job satisfaction. The results also showed that remuneration, leadership and career progression have significant relationship on the job satisfaction in general.
