Status of Solidwaste Management of Poblacion Claveria Misamis Oriental

Assessment of the implementation of Solid Waste Management Program at Poblacion, Claveria, Misamis Oriental was done to determine the profile of the respondents. It was also done to ascertain the level of their awareness on solid waste management, the level of implementation of the program and accordingly find out the relationship between personal profile and awareness and its implementation of the program and the problems met. Residents numbered three hundred eighty (380) respondents served as respondents of the study.  Data analysis used descriptive statistics and correlation analysis. Results revealed that awareness and implementation of solid waste management program was participated by the residents 40 to 59% of the time. Sex, position held in the barangay government office, and education were significantly associated with the awareness of the residents of solid waste management program. Education is significantly related to the implementation of the solid waste management. Delayed collection of garbage, consistency in garbage segregation and no appropriate receptacles for garbage are the top three problems of solid waste management. Ample enforcement, monitoring and understanding of one’s role and responsibilities on solid waste management should be taken seriously by residents through massive information drive. The Solid Waste Management board may study garbage collection and find alternatives in the disposal of garbage.
