Online Alumni Community of the College of Information Technology: Design and Implementation

Aurora Cindy Agno-Balabat, Jun Brian Tubongbanua

An Online Alumni Community can provide important information that can help the college assess the attainment of its vision, mission and goals. The researchers considered the existing graduate record acquisition procedure of the university and how this age-old procedure could be remodeled for a more efficient and effective information management. The lack of facility where graduates can conveniently append their pertinent information is among those factors considered during the course of designing the proposed system. Another issue considered was the inability to provide immediate and up-to-date reports out of the collected data for administrative and analysis purposes.   With the system development life cycle as the chosen research framework, the system prototype underwent the following phases: Requirements Gathering, Analysis and Design, Implementation and Deployment and System Testing. The research focuses on the development of an online alumni community that serves as tool for graduate tracer studies using system development as the research framework that could be successfully applied by the college to create information-sharing with and amongst its alumni affinity groups, in order to build and maintain valuable relationships, network and partnership with them.
