Delinquent Acts of Street Children in Cagayan de Oro City

This study aimed to (1) determine the profile of the street children in Cagayan de Oro City in terms of age, sex, birth order, family size, place of origin, parent's occupation, and educational level; (2) determine the incidence of delinquent acts committed by street children in Cagayan de Oro City. The study was conducted through discipline research with the use of interviewin gathering the data. The study was conducted in Cagayan de Oro City. Interview was done among 30 street children who are conveniently found in the streets of Cagayan de Oro City. The data were organized, presented, analyzed and interpreted through frequency counts and percentages. Most of the respondents are in the following profile: (a) 12 to 14 years old, (b) male, (c) with the family size of 7 to 10 members, (d) in the fifth or above birth order, (e) with origin from city or urban areas, (f) father's occupation is trisikad driver while the mother has no work or unemployed; and (g) in the elementary level of education. Incidentally, the foregoing profile of the respondents also recorded more delinquent acts.
