Fingerprint Taking and Examination of Selected Police Precincts in the Province of Misamis Oriental
The study explores the level of accuracy of fingerprint taking and examination among technicians and examiners in the selected police precincts in the province of Misamis Oriental. The study aimed to describe the respondents profile, to determine the accuracy of fingerprint-taking and examinations, and the difference between the respondents’ profile and the accuracy of fingerprint taking and examination. The study used the descriptive type of research involving three (3) police offices in Cagayan de Oro City (COCPO). Police precinct no. 3, police precinct in Opol, El Salvador, Laguindingan, Tagoloan, Villanueva,and Jasaan Misamis Oriental. The questionnaires were the basis for Accuracy of fingerprint taking and examinations. results showed that respondents have been in the service for three years, most of the respondents have attended once or more than twice in related training for the past three years. Most of them are bachelor's degree holder. The level of accuracy of the finger print function is high. In terms of educational background, bachelor ’s degree is the highest frequency and 1-3 years’ length of work experience. The availability of chemicals for latent fingerprint in the police precincts in Misamis Oriental is described as moderate, and the difference between the respondents’ profile and level of accuracy of fingerprint reveal that there is no significant difference in length of work experience, attendance in related training for past 3 years, frequency in the discharge of fingerprint function per month, and the educational qualification. The researchers recommend that fingerprint technicians and examiners must have at least 1-3 years attendance in training at least once or three times, and educational background is highly recommended.
