Best Practices of Home-Based Tailoring Business in River Barangays

The study was set to determine the best practices of home-based tailoring business in river barangays. The study aimed to establish the respondents’ profile, business profile, and identify best operational, financial, and marketing practices. Descriptive research design was used in conducting the study. Structured survey questionnaire was used to collect data from 20 home-based business owners in four rural river barangays in Cagayan de Oro City. Data were analyzed and interpreted through frequencies and percentage.  The findings revealed that more females were engaged in home-based tailoring business and honed their expertise through training. Respondents considered tailoring as their major source of income. The study showed that practices such as working long hours, cash basis transactions, quality products/services, stocks monitoring, proper cash and income allocation, flexibility, affordable prices, good advertising, adapting with new trends and keeping financial records are effective means to achieve success. The study concluded that most of the respondents had common practices applied in their day-to-day business operations. The researchers recommended that government must extend further financial assistance, conduct training and promote home-based business to ensure growth and profitability.
