THE priority accorded to research by the presidency of Dr. Mariano M. Lerin of Liceo de Cagayan University resulted in the university’s outstanding performance after it bested 32 colleges and universities in the best oral and poster research presentation category.
Liceo garnered 17 total points from two platinum, four gold and three silver awards in the recently concluded 7th National Research Conference sponsored by the Philippine Association of Institutions for Research (Pair) held at Pearlmont Inn, Limketkai Drive in Cagayan de Oro.
The event was hosted by Liceo de Cagayan University, Xavier University and Capitol University.
Liceo’s championship was propelled by platinum winners Dennis Coronel and Wilson Tablan; Evangeline Cabe, Ian Kit Nehemiah Dap-og, Dr. Andrew Ponte, Aurora Cindy Agno, and Dr. Lesley Lubos for gold; Richie Grace M. Lago, Dr. Aster Daan and Salvador de la Peña III for silver.
In second place is Capitol University with 11 points (three platinum and one gold), while in third place is Bukidnon State University with three gold and three silver (nine points).
The fourth spot is a tie between Cebu Normal University (one platinum, two gold and one silver) and Mindanao University of Science and Technology (two platinum and one gold) with eight points while the fifth place went to Holy Cross of Davao College with two platinum (six points).
Saint Mary’s University bagged the sixth spot with one platinum and one gold (five points), while the seventh place went to John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University with one platinum and one silver (four points) and the University of Northern Philippine with one platinum and one silver.
Five other universities obtained platinum awards. These include University of the Cordilleras, Xavier University, University of Bohol, Holy Name University and Universidad de Zamboanga.
