The Level of Fitness of Volleyball Players

Physical conditioning is an essential component among all the athletes of any sport. The individual’s physical performance is determined on how a player could last in a game session. The study was intended to determine the level of fitness of the volleyball players of Liceo de Cagayan University. This is adescriptive study. The following tests were utilized: Stork Balance Stand Test (SBST), Sargent Jump Test (SJT), Maximum Biceps Curl Test (MBCT), Alternate Hand Wall Toss Test, Pushups, Sit ups, and Standing Long Jump Tests and Agility T-Test. The statistical tools used were frequencies and percentage distribution. The results showed that: majority of the subjects has an ideal age, height, weight, and body mass index (BMI) to train and play volleyball; majority of the tests performed to assess the level of fitness in terms of balance, strength, endurance, agility and coordination were rated poorly except for Maximum Biceps Curl Test and Sargent Jump Test which were rated above average. On Push-ups, the subjects were rated fair.
